How A Formula Comes Together

Every product begins as a concept: a response to a genuine need, a season, or a particular moment of care. We start by writing down not just what we want a formula to do, but how we want it to feel in use. That written intention guides every decision that follows, so the heart of a product stays consistent even as the formula itself is refined.

Testing and Refining

Once a direction is set, the real work begins at the apothecary bench. This stage takes time. We test, adjust, and test again, paying close attention to how ingredients work together, how an oil absorbs into skin, and whether an active ingredient is performing as intended.

This is also where safety work happens. We test our preservative systems thoroughly, so a formula remains as stable and effective at the end of a bottle as it was at the beginning.

Considered Sourcing

We choose ingredients for what they offer, not for convenience. Sourcing means working with suppliers across Australia and internationally, seeking out oils and extracts that meet a genuine standard for quality, wherever they happen to come from.

Preparing for Production

While ingredients are in transit, we use the time to prepare properly: calibrating equipment, organising the space, and planning each detail of the production run, from small discovery batches through to our standard bottle sizes. The goal is to be genuinely ready once raw materials arrive, rather than working things out as we go.

From Formula to Finished Product

Full production begins only once every sample has proven itself and every ingredient is on hand. Watching a formula move from concept to something real is still, every time, a genuinely satisfying part of the work. It reflects what we care about most: skincare made with intention, attention to detail, and respect for the process it takes to get there.
